I’m Robert, and I’m pleased to be sharing my experience and expertise in the form of True Inclusion Coaching. I have 25 years of personal and professional experience in self-development and mentoring, and I’m excited to be bringing all that to this new chapter in my life and work.
I have studied and trained as an Engineer and as a Philosopher. I was ordained as a Buddhist monk for 7 years. I am a poet and a scholar of mysticism, and I have a PhD in Buddhist Metaphysics. I am a recovering over-thinker, and I have lived experience of anxiety and autism. I like to think about things and I like to feel things deeply. I value understanding and insight into what it is to be alive, and to fully experience this beautiful, painful mystery. Words and thoughts are important, but what they point to is where the real magic is.
For the last 8 years, I’ve supported students at the University of Glasgow as a specialist mentor and study skills adviser. Before that I was a popular and successful teacher of Buddhist meditation. But what I offer now isn’t technical or traditional—it’s something more immediate and personal.
I draw on my life experience, my formal education and my cultivated intuition to support clients to identify and resolve whatever it is they are finding difficult in their life. I know personally what it is like to live within a cage of limiting beliefs and unconscious fear. I know what it is like to live with, and recover from, anxiety and over-thinking. With an empathetic ear and embodied experience, I support clients towards better mental health and a stable experience of wellbeing. With mindfulness, self-love and empathy, we work together to transform stuckness into movement and confusion into clarity.
I have particular experience working with neurodivergent people, and I understand the challenges of self-acceptance and inclusion in our communities and workplaces. I support adults in adjusting to their late diagnosis of neurodivergence. I also offer Access to Work mentoring to help clients identify and navigate barriers to productivity and belonging. I speak with organisations to support them in providing a truly inclusive environment for neurodivergent staff.
I believe that
You are the expert on yourself
You are best placed to identify the limiting beliefs that keep you from your full potential, and to introduce practices and strategies to enact change in your life.
Peace of mind is your essential nature
Finding a stable sense of wellbeing doesn’t take effort, all it takes is for us to stop engaging in those unconscious habits that keep us in confusion and conflict. Wellbeing and relaxation are effortless, it’s being uncomfortable and stressed that takes effort.
There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with you
Our system is predisposed towards healing, insight and personal growth. We just need to practice the skill of relaxing into the natural process of recovery and transformation. The only thing ‘wrong’ with us is our tendency to judge ourselves as being wrong.
“He is very helpful and the sessions run smoothly. He doesn’t force any ideas upon me—rather, we talk and he allows me to draw my own conclusions. Thank you, Robert.”
